Exposition Vivants au Quai Branly (5/26/07)

I visited this exposition this morning near Tour Eiffel. It is a photo exposition of Yann Arthus Bertrand. I visited one of his famous exposition, La Terre vue du ciel, in London several years ago. This time it is an exposition on living organisms. It displays the beauty of these organisms and at the same time the impact of human being on the environment. How can we use our resources wisely? How to live a eco-friendly life. It is a distant problem. We have to do it now before it is too late. The exposition will be on until Aug 21 in Paris. If you happen to visit Paris this summer........highly recommended. (www.goodplanet.org)

Parce qu'avec toi je suis bien (4/13/07)

I enjoyed all the moments with you. It is always nice to have you around me. I treasure you as I always do. I love you as I always do. It is not a trade. I love you not because you love me. At the same time, I do not force you to love me. If I can ask you one thing, please let me love you. I will be sitting, standing next to you and accompany you quietly. I do not mean to disturb your life. Parce qu'avec toi je suis bien.

Le Procope (4/11/07)

I was going out for dinner with a friend from Hong Kong. We chose to dine in Le Procope, the oldest restaurant in France. It was opened in 1686. That means it has been 321 years already. It is located near the metro Odeon, my favorite hangout area where you can find a lot of cinema and Saint-Germain des pres is in walking distance.

Hiking (4/8/07)

I had a hiking trip along the coastline of Marseille (the CALANQUE) after La Feria in Arles. The scenery along the coast is very nice. It was sunny and not windy (no mistral). So the trip was very pleasant.

La Feria (4/7/07)

I was taking the TGV to the south for La Feria this weekend. This is the first time I took the TGV. I was quite amazed by the fact that it was not very shaky compared to the normal train which I used to take in Toulouse. Bravo! I took an early train, so I have a chance to see the sun rising up from the horizon. It is still a bit early in the morning. About an hour or so, the sky clears up and the sun is shining. I am sitting right next to the window and listening to the music. Coincidentally, I am listening to the sound track of ' La double vie de Vonique", my all time favorite film and soundtrack. I remembered one scene in the movie that the actress was also sitting on the train playing the little glassball when the sun is rising. The reflection of the surroundings on the ball and the sunlight gives a very nice picture. When I am listening to the music and sitting in a train........the feeling is exceptional! Want to watch again the film. J'adore!

Jazz (3/30/07)

I went to a jazz club in St. Michel with some friends tonight. It was my second time to visit jazz clubs in Paris. It was very nice except it was to smoky. I enjoyed the music very much especially the guy who played the guitar. From his facial expression, it seems to me that he enjoys the music as much as we do. It is very important because he is not only a performer, but also an audience for his music. Afterall, you need to be your own audience to appreciate what you are performing.

Life and Time (3/25/07)

Life! It is the stacking up of time. Tic-tac! tic-tac! How you live every second of your life will portrait what your life will be. I had many precious memories, but sometimes when I tried to recall what had happened, it was so blurred in my mind. And the traces remains are minimal. I do hope for the future. But at the same time, you do not really know what is going to happen. You can try your best in your part, but there are so many parameters which we can't really control. So try our best and hope for the best is the only thing we can do for the future. Then what we can really hold? It is THIS MOMENT! Yes, this very moment! If you still can breath, breath it deep. Breath as it is your last breath. If you have sentiments, don't keep. You might not have a chance to say it except now. You might think that you keep your sentiments to tell the person later. However, when that moment comes, you might not have any sentiments. C'est dommage! Mais, c'est la vie. If you still have a breath to love your beloved..........love him as it is the last moment. At least, you will not regret!

The Blue Foot (Poulet Bleu): The search for the World's best chicken (3/17/07)

The blue foot, or Poulet Bleu as it's sometimes called is a homegrown version of France’s mythical poulet de Bresse—it is so esteemed that in 1957 it was awarded A.O.C. status, which basically means that unless it grew up foraging the fertile fields, tucking into the occasional worm or snail, and lapping up the pure spring water of its designated region, then it ain’t Bresse—blue-footed or not.
I finally found the "poulet de Bresse" today when I was doing my weekend market shopping in Le Bon Marché. I have been looking for it since I moved to France. I get to know this type of chicken from the book of Peter Mayle, A Year in Provence. Apparently it is so prestigious that you can't find it in ordinary supermarkets, Auchan and Carrefour. I am so glad that I finally found it and I would have a chance to taste how different it tastes from an ordinary chicken. Bon appétit!

Do I know you?

Do I know you? I don't know.
We seems to be close, but at the same time, we are distant.
It seems like I know you, but at the same time, it seems that I do not know you at all.
I do not want to disturb you.
I just want to be with you....Quietly.
I enjoy these moments.
They are peaceful, quiet and transquil.
Let's wander around the town, in our playground.
Let's read, chat, drive, read and drink.

Il fait beau! Le printemps va venir bientôt (3/11/2007)

The weather is particularly good today. Usually, it is sunny in the morning, but then by the time you get dressed and ready to go out.........it becomes cloudy. The sky is gray during the winter. Typical weather in Europe. Today is so different. It is sunny whole day long. All the Parsians and visitors flooded out from homes and hotels to enjoy this precise sunny sunday along the Seine. And with no surprise, we have traffic jam because of that. Of course, I also 'profiter' this very chance to enjoy the sunny eather. Even with the traffic, I drive my car and make my petit tournage in Paris.

Journée internationale des Femmes (International Women's Day) (3/8/07)

I was on my way home after work. The traffic was exceptionally good today. When I was driving in the roundabout near my home, I found that one of the roads was blocked by the police. I did not pay much attention to it and continued to look for a parking spot. I drove back to the same roundabout for the second time to continue to look for a parking. Eventually I parked the car and was walking to a supermarket near the roundabout. And I finally realized the reson why the road was blocked. It was the walk for the international women's day. I stopped along the road and looked at the people in the walk....start reading their flyers. Then I decided to join them. This is the first time I joined a walk in France. Being a lifetime member of a women association in Hong Kong (HKAUW), I feel that I should participate in this very day. It is an altitude. If you want to change the world to make it a better place to live, you have to tell people exactly what you want and what you ask for. Don't just murmuring at home. You don't have to be rich. You only need to be sufficient. But everyone needs to live with dignity.

This is one of the flyers (from the Association Culturelle des Travailleurs Immigres de Turquie):

Home.....Exile (3/5/07)

Home sweet home! We say this so often, but what does it really mean? How you define a home? How you define your country? Nationalism. You are born in a country, but does it mean that your heart attaches to it? Are you patriotic? Why you live in a particular country? You live there simply because this is where you were born? What if you have a choice? Where you want to go? Where do I belong to? What about immigration? When you changed your nationality and passport.....does it change your identity? Or you still carry the same ID which your appearance and the color of the skin holds? Why you want to exile? You want to escape from the people and the environment? Or one day, you find out that you are trying to escape from yourself?

L'amour (3/4/07)

Today is the 15th day of the first lunar month, the Lantern Festival. It was once served as a day of matchmaking. It can be regarded as an 'unofficial' chinese valentine's day. I like this day more than the 'western' valentine's day simply because it is less commercial. Of course, who knows how many people out there are still celebrating this festival???
What will you do if you are going to celebrate this festival with your loved one? What is love? How are you going to express your love to him/her? You express your love to him/her because you feel good after you told him/her or vice versa?
What I will do is to make a wish that my loved one will live a wonderful and happy life. So he can go far and fly high!

samedi 3 mars 2007

New Start (3/3/07)

Life is an adventure. Sometimes it is not you who do not have the potential to reach high, it is just the fact that you THINK you cannot achieve it. Try to walk a bit out of your usual boundary, may be you will find a complete new world. And you will find it is YOU who is limiting yourself. Let's go! Reaching far and flying high!

Solitude (3/2/07)

After spending two weeks home for vacation, I returned to Paris. It is always nice to spend some time with the family. But at the same time, you feel a bit exhausted and overwhelmed by the endless rendez-vous! After 12-hour or so flight, you are 'shipped and dumped' into the opposite side of the world where you literally know nobody and have no connections of any kind. Of course, you can have a life more transquil, but at the same time, it is too quiet.................and you feel a bit lost. Isn't this so called the post vacation fever?
